We invite you to sign the This Is Our Dream Cultural Compact.
As the nation looks to embedding an Indigenous voice to Parliament in Australia’s constitution, here in Newman, we have a declaration that recognises the land, culture, language and law the Nyiyaparli Traditional Owners of the Country on which Newman stands, and the Martu as the Custodians of Jigalong which sits in Nyiyaparli Country.
This declaration is a commitment made by individuals and organisations to start doing business in a new way to the benefit of all.
Come, walk with us.
Newman and Jigalong are Nyiyaparli Country.
Nyiyaparli asked Martu to look after Jigalong many, many years ago, when they travelled from their desert lands. Martu now uphold Aboriginal traditions and culture on that Country.
Nyiyaparli and Martu live in Newman together and are now bringing you into this story.
We hope you follow and listen to this story.
This journey is a long one. Our dream is to lay down new foundations and walk together.
We will not deviate from this path.
Martu and Nyiyaparli have dreamed of this place and can see a better future for all.
If you are serious about joining this journey, follow us, Martu and Nyiyaparli, to travel together to a shared future.
